Amazon’s recent updates to its Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) refund and reimbursement policies mean that Sellers will have to act fast to avoid losing money they may be owed.

Announced on July 24th, these changes significantly shorten the timeframes for filing some claims. If sellers act quickly, they can make sure they get their refunds.

These changes go into effect on October 23, 2024. Many Sellers will have significant work to do to prepare for these changes, particularly if they are doing this work themselves.

They should focus on the most impactful refunds, working systematically from past to present, to cover the last 18 months.

We asked GETIDA, who are leaders in this area, to summarize the changes and give their recommendations to protect Seller’s from losing out when these changes come into effect.

    Key Policy Updates:

    Loss and Damage Claims:

limit will be reduced from 18 months to 2 months.
Sellers must act quickly to audit and file claims for any loss or damage to inventory within Amazon’s warehouses.

    Customer Return and Refund Issues:

The time limit will be reduced from 18 months to 4 months.
This is a very significant reduction. Sellers need to look at all discrepancies and issues arising from customer returns right now!

    FBA Removal Orders

The time limit will be reduced from 18 months to 2.5 months.
Another very significant time reduction. Any discrepancies or issues arising from removing FBA inventory from Amazon warehouses must be addressed much sooner.

    Best Practices for Sellers

    Audit Reimbursements Constantly

Ensure your team regularly audits for discrepancies and files claims daily to avoid missing out on reimbursements.

Make sure you regularly review Amazon’s policy updates to ensure you don’t miss any further updates in this critical area.

    Utilize Available Tools

It may feel impossible to catch up on 18 months of claims in 90 days or less. Professional solutions like Getida find FBA discrepancies in your Seller Central Account proactively, and they will work to file and complete the reimbursement process so that you can get your money back as soon as possible.

    Take Urgent Action

Sellers only have until October 23rd to file claims for eligible reimbursements going back 18 months. After Oct 23rd, sellers will only have 2 months to look back and recover funds.

With shorter claim windows, timely action is crucial to secure all eligible refunds. Even if you prefer to manage this area yourself, consider using a professional solution tempoarily to carry the burden of auditing and reclaiming those funds on your behalf leading up to the deadline.

Amazon’s update FBA refund policies require sellers to be more vigilant and proactive. By auditing claims regularly and using professional services, sellers can ensure they never miss out on reimbursements. The new deadlines necessitate swift action to secure all eligible refunds.

We have a long association with Getida who took over our refunds business when it became too much of a distraction from our core business. Use this link ZonSupport/GETIDA to save the first $400 of FBA reimbursements.

As always, ask us anything. If we don’t know the answer, we’ll know someone who does!
